Speaker One - Stuart Bratt (Founder and CEO of Tough Enough To Care)

Delivered by Stu Bratt, Founder & CEO of Tough Enough To Care. Stu is a multi-award winning CEO within the charity sector and Armed Forces community, proud RAF veteran and TEDx speaker.

Being a self-confessed product of male dominated environments, with first-hand experience of the ‘Man-up’ culture and having completed multiple operational tours of both Iraq and Afghanistan, Stu has seen how toxic masculinity can force men into feeling they cannot speak out about how they feel to access the support they so desperately need.

Having felt the pain and loss of suicide to 2 close friends within days of each other, Stu has turned this pain into a passion that has created a change making charity that encourages and supports healthy conversation around mental health and peer support in male dominated environments and the wider reaching community.

A short talk, delivered with passion and precision to your organisation will provide motivation for positive change and increased wellbeing. From a standing start, Stu has created a global movement of change and a shift in the attitude that surrounds mental ill health whilst tackling a taboo subject head on. To date, Tough Enough To Care have supported multinational businesses, sporting organisations and branches of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services across the world.

Speaker Two - Alex Harrison (Chief Development Officer for Tough Enough To Care)

Delivered by Alex Harrison, Chief Development Officer for Tough Enough To Care. Alex has spent 4 years volunteering for Tough Enough To Care and has recently joined us as a full-time member of the team. Alex has spent 3 decades working in male dominated environments, within the Heavy Industry sector. He has worked at all levels within these industries ranging from a shop floor through to Works Director and is a past Chairman for the Institute of Quarrying (Derbyshire Branch). Since the age of 8, Alex has participated in and coached combat sports, studied and taught martial arts and played and coached rugby. Alex was selected to be the Mental Health Support for the Team England Freestyle Wrestling Team at the Commonwealth games held in Birmingham in 2022.

Alex will openly talk about his own struggles with a mental health illness, and as with Stu, being a self-confessed product of male dominated environments, with first-hand experience of the ‘Man-up’ culture, having seen so many men struggle with their mental health and knowing too many people that have died by suicide. Alex witnessed a lot of mental health illnesses in these environments, including his own and is now a leader in fighting the stigma surrounding mental health in industry, and supports people that are concerned about the ramifications and being labelled as a failure or weak that like him, grew up only knowing the toxic ‘Man Up’ culture.

This talk will be delivered with passion and precision to your organisation and will provide motivation for positive change and increased wellbeing and mental health awareness.

Alex can also be available for a short period of time following the talk for further questions or discussions.
