Big Fat Quiz Pack
Quizzes bring people of all ages and abilities together for a bit of healthy competition and a lot of fun.
Why not put your general knowledge to the test for a good cause?
Hosting a quiz at your local pub, town hall, or virtually can be both enjoyable and rewarding, plus you will be raising funds to help us to provide vital mental health support and training.
We have a range of quizzes on offer spanning a variety of themes. Simply click the button below or contact us at fundraising@toughenoughtocare.org, let us know which quizzes you would like and we will send out your Big Fat Quiz Pack and fundraising materials.
How to organise your quiz night
Where and when
If you decide to hold your quiz virtually, then there are lots of platforms that you could use including: Zoom, Facebook Live or Teams. Then all you need to do is to pick a date and time to suit all your guests. Don’t forget to send them the link in advance and make sure that your mic and camera are working properly before you start.
If you choose to go with a venue then look for one that is easily accessible and pick a date that doesn’t clash with any big events, or local quiz nights. Some venues might offer charity discounts – it’s definitely worth the ask!
When it comes to the time that you run your quiz be sure that it doesn’t run too late. The ideal length should be around an hour to an hour and a half. Don’t forget to allow/add in around fifteen to twenty minutes for a quick break.
Raising funds
We recommend charging between £3-£5 per person for quiz entry. You could do a team discount price too (We recommend around six people to a team). If you want to sell tickets to people outside your own social circle then platforms like Eventbrite sell tickets online.
If you are holding the event in person then we can provide things like collection buckets and literature to help boost your fundraising. You could also hold a raffle on the night (Detailed guidelines about legally holding raffles can be found through the Gambling Commission).
If you are holding it virtually then why not consider setting up a Just Giving page and promoting the link throughout the quiz.
Shout all about it!
Once you have decided on the venue, ordered your quiz pack and practiced your compere routine, then it’s time to tell everyone all about it and sell those tickets! Printed materials are great to hand out or put up in public spaces (Remember to always get permission from venues or your local council before handing out or leaving leaflets in public places).
Don’t forget to use your social media platforms and word of mouth too!
On the night
Don’t forget the pens and paper! If you are holding an in person event then you will need pens and paper. We have provided a quiz sheet allow with our quiz pack, but if you don’t want to print this out then a blank piece of paper will do just fine.
Look out for cheaters! It’s hard to check for cheaters if you are holding a virtual event, but if your quiz is in person, then it’s best to ask everyone to put their phones and good old Google away during the quiz.
Take your time: Read the questions through slowly and check after each round to see if anyone would like any repeats.
Marking your quiz: There are a number of ways to mark the quiz. You could either take a list of all quiz teams and collect the papers in to be marked, or you could ask all quizzers to swap papers with a team next to them to be marked. If you are holding the quiz virtually you unfortunately have to hope for honest markers!
Crowning the winner: Quizzers generally like to know where they have placed. Read out the scores of each team starting from the lowest points right up to the grand winners!
Don’t forget to thank all of your guests after the quiz has finished.
Paying in your fundraising
After you quiz is all over, it’s time to hand in your funds. You can either pay via the donate button at the top of the page, or contact us at fundraising@toughenoughtocare.org for all of our paying in details.
Give yourself a pat on the back!
By holding a quiz night for Tough Enough To Care, you help to make a MASSIVE difference to people who experience mental health problems. You should be really proud of what you have achieved and please know that all of us here at the charity are so very grateful for your support.
Every penny you raise makes a difference:

£150 keeps our information support phones running for a month.
£200 sponsors a free Mental Health First Aid Champion course for a community hero (in a non-profit or a grass roots sports member), enabling them to recognise signs of crisis and offer vital support.
